About

Role: Lead Designer During the pandemic, like many others, I started making food + drinks at home. After curfews lifted, we signed up for barista classes in the UAE, especially after getting our own machine. I’ve loved coffee since my uni days in 2009. As someone passionate about packaging design, I always had a quiet goal in the back of my mind: one day, I’d design something for coffee. That opportunity came a year later when I was asked to create marketing materials and design packaging for a line of specialty coffee capsules with the roastery and coffee academy I enrolled in. It was a full-circle moment, blending my love for coffee and design into one project.
Challenge

The challenge was to design packaging that felt elevated and interactive, something coffee lovers would be excited to use and proud to display on their home coffee bars. The goal was to bring the experience of specialty coffee into a format that felt approachable and convenient. It had to look good, feel thoughtful, and still celebrate the quality, origin, and craft behind each capsule.
Result

Inspired by the capsule’s circular shape, I created a clean, half-moon visual element as the centerpiece of the packaging. The design is minimal, modern, and playful, bringing a fresh look to the everyday coffee ritual. We also included a simple, user-friendly brew guide with a custom illustration to make the experience even more engaging. To build a deeper connection with each cup, we added a short story about the farmers behind every origin. It gives coffee lovers a chance to learn more about what they’re drinking and where it comes from. All product photos were beautifully captured by my good friend Pauline Disuanco, whose eye for detail helped bring the whole project to life.
