About

It still feels surreal to see something you created digitally, printed and out in the real world. I’m sure a lot of designers can relate to that moment. In the middle of the pandemic, I stepped out of my comfort zone and moved to a different continent to pursue one of my dreams: studying for a master's degree. The course was very hands-on and gave us the chance to work with real clients, one of them being Yamamay. Like many of my projects involving layout and packaging, this one pushed me in new ways. I still remember one phrase that stuck with me during those six weeks: “The chances of your logo being chosen by a big corporate company is zero.” So when Yamamay actually chose my logo, I didn’t think much of it at first, until I found out it was really going to be used worldwide. That moment reminded me of something important. Always believe in yourself and what you’re capable of. Read about the journey below.

Challenge

As part of a 6-week creative challenge, I was tasked with developing two distinct rebranding concepts for Yamamay, one of Italy’s most recognizable lingerie and lifestyle brands. Both of my proposals were selected, marking a rewarding milestone in the project. At the time, I was living in Florence, where Yamamay stores were part of the urban landscape, and their bold red color was something I associated with the city from the moment I stepped out of the train station. That strong visual memory inspired my logo restyling approach: I chose to retain Yamamay’s iconic red, a color deeply linked to their identity, while giving the logo a modern, clean, and timeless redesign. To complement this, I introduced a soft nude tone as a secondary palette, bringing warmth, freshness, and versatility. The project included logo applications, custom patterns, printed marketing materials, and digital collateral. After winning the competition, I had the opportunity to collaborate with Studio Kmzero, founded by my professor, to refine the branding and finalize the visual system together.

Result

Every time I see Yamamay stores around the world, whether in Europe or the Middle East, it still feels surreal. Knowing that something I helped create is part of a global brand’s identity is incredibly exciting. It’s even more special when friends and family send me photos from different countries saying, “Look, it’s your logo!” Collaborating with Yamamay, a brand known for its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and inclusivity, was a rewarding experience. Their focus on responsible production and environmental impact made this project feel even more meaningful. Having my work displayed internationally as part of such a forward-thinking and iconic brand is something I’ll always be proud of.
