Sunsational
About

Position: UI/UX Design Lead This project marked my first end-to-end lead role in UI/UX design. From day one, I was fully involved in the process, starting with initial research and early wireframes and continuing through refining every visual detail and interaction. It was a big learning curve, but also incredibly rewarding to see it all come together. What made the process especially memorable was the creative exploration. We began digging into old design references and found inspiration in illustration styles from the 1930s to 1960s. Think vintage swim posters, old-school vacation ads, and mid-century color typographies + palettes. It felt like piecing together a visual time capsule while giving it a modern spin. That blend of retro charm and clean, user-friendly design became the foundation for the entire experience.
Challenge

The goal of the website redesign was to give Sunsational a fresh, modern look that still felt true to the brand. We wanted to make sure the site really connected with the people using it, whether parents signing their kids up for lessons or adults wanting to learn to swim. One of the biggest challenges was the long, cluttered pages. It was tough for users to quickly find what they needed without feeling overwhelmed. So the mission became clear: create an experience that’s visually engaging and easy to navigate, guiding visitors naturally without bombarding them with too much information at once.
Result

We streamlined the site by shortening page lengths, improving text hierarchy, and presenting content in a more digestible, user-friendly way. To bring warmth and authenticity, we added custom illustrations alongside real-life photos of customers and their experiences. The refreshed design not only feels more current, but also creates a clearer, more engaging experience for families exploring swimming programs. The goal was to build something easy to navigate, welcoming, and full of personality, just like Sunsational’s swim programs.
